My mornings usually start with nuts followed by a healthy smoothie. Today, was no different except that I was badly craving some chocolate and as a result I decided to make a healthy version of chocolate smoothie with avocado and banana. Its rich creamy texture and strong bitter flavour can give a regular shake run for its taste. You can make it vegan by using soy milk like I did or use regular yoghurt and milk. It is extremely healthy with iron, protein and healthy fats from avocado.
1 Large Avocado
1 Frozen Banana
2 Cups Soy Milk, or more depending on what consistency you want
2 Tablespoons of Organic 100% Cocoa Powder
1 Teaspoon Coffee (OPTIONAL)
A bit of natural sweetener like honey or agave (OPTIONAL; I usually skip)
Peel and cut the avocado and banana. Put all the ingredients in a blender and process on high-speed to a smooth consistency. You can add more milk at this stage to suit your preferred consistency as avocado does make for a very thick smoothie. Serve chilled and top with chia seeds to add more nutrients and crunch.
