Medieval spires, cathedrals, castle and cakes form the vibe of this beautiful Saxony city, Dresden. Amidst all that what grasps our constant attention is river Elbe with its over the years perfected curves and flows.
I was there recently for a quick weekend breath and loved every second of it. Staying little out of the main city in Pilnitz was an added cherry as Schloss Hotel, a castle turned hotel charmed me with its simplicity and the fact that it overlooked the river minus any tourists. I got to enjoy scintillating sunset that was a perfect palette of all imaginable sky hues. Some other things that I really loved were original Black forest cake (schwarzwald kuchen) that was so different from what I have been eating in its name, small villages around that take you much back in time, visit to the Saxony Switzerland region, and an overall poetic air. Here is a small glimpse.
